Ajith’s birthday

Happy with his latest announcement of disbanding all his fan clubs, Ajith celebrated his birthday in a silent way on Sunday, by spending the day with wife Shalini and daughter Anoushka.

“There were calls from fans to meet the Thala on his big day and to request him to reconsider the decision. But he was firm on it (dissolving fan clubs) and politely denied the requests,” sources say.

Meanwhile, most Ajith fans are happy with the decision, saying that their ‘Thala’ will now be celebrated by one and all and not by a particular section. “He is already liked by fans of other stars and many actors themselves are Thala fans,” they say.

As a birthday gift to Ajith, ‘Mankatha’ crew led by director Venkat Pabhu on Sunday midnight launched a song-trailer of the film on the net. “Since we were unable to release Mankatha audio on May 1, we decided to gift Ajith anna this teaser,” says Venkat Prabhu.

Ajith and Shalini shares Chithra’s grief

  

‘Sruthi’, Chithra’s residence in Virugambakkam, wore a grim look on Friday when the body of Nandana, the singer’s daughter who drowned in a swimming pool at a villa in Dubai Thursday, was brought there.

Hundreds of people from all walks of life, including top names in singing and acting arenas, came to pay their last respects to Chithra’s eight-year-old daughter and consoled Chithra, who wept uncontrollably.

Music composers Illayaraja, Koti and Ganesh, playback singers P Susila, S Janaki, S P Balasubramanyam, Mano, S P Shylaja and Sujatha, actors Sivakumar, Ajith, Shalini and many others from the film industry paid floral tributes to the mortal remains of the child.

The last rites were held at 4.30 pm at the Vadapalani AVM Funeral Ground. Nandana had fallen into the pool and though she was rushed to the hospital, she was declared dead. She was in Dubai with her mother, who was there to take part in an A R Rahman concert.

Ajith, Shalini in Evano Oruvan Function

 

The red carpet premiere of Evano Oruvan happened at Sathyam Cinemas in Chennai yesterday (December 6). Top celebrities like Satyaraj, Y.G.Mahendran and his family, Hindi actress Poonam Dhillon, directors Vasanth, L.Vijay, singer Unni Menon, Lekha and Aishwarya Dhanush, Thenappan were present for the premiere, but the surprise and excitement of everyone was the presence of Ajith and Shalini at the premiere. A visibly pregnent Shalini who is in her ninth month was a delight to everyone. The couple is expecting the arrival of their first child in January.

Maddy and his wife Saritha who were the organisers of the event played the perfect hosts to the celebrities present, talking and looking after the comfort of everyone present. The movie, directed by Nishikant Kamat, has Madhavan, Sangeetha and Seeman in lead roles.

Ajith his taking a break to be with his wife Shalini when the baby comes and has hence postponed the shooting of his next movie Akbar with Raju Sundaram to post January. His much awaited movie Billa 2007 is expected to be released this month on December 14th.
